How To: Interview

Interviews -- Whether it's for a possible career, school, or an organization interviews are most likely to occur. Since my senior year in high school I have been in many many interviews. My freshman year in college I had about 10 interviews throughout the entire year looking for a job. Now I'm a senior in college and I can safely say that I'm pretty confident on what to do before, during, and after an interview.
Here are some tips and tricks when preparing for an interview:
Before the Interview:
Before the Interview:
- Do some research on the company.
- Some jobs ask what you can tell them about the company, just so they can see your interest in them.
- Have a "mock" interview.
- Google sample interview questions and there are many options that will be given to you.
- SAMPLE QUESTION(s):
- What is your strength/weaknesses?
- Give me 3 words that describe you.
- Prepare your outfit.
- Dress + Cardigan + Flats/Low Heels.
- Blazer + Slacks + Flats/Low Heels.
- Button Up + Tie + Slacks.
- Complete your resume and cover letter.
- Get a good night's rest.
Day of the Interview:
- Appearance:
- Look Presentable
- Don't forget your paperwork!
During the Interview:
- Shake hands with the interviewer before + after!
- Be confident in your answers
- Restrain from hesitations and using "um"
- Give the interviewer eye contact, smile, and relax.
- Ask as many questions as you possibly can.
- This shows interest in the company.
After the Interview:
- Know that you did your best whether or not you got the position.
- Follow up with them by giving them a thank you card.
One of the biggest tips I can give aside from all of this is to BE YOURSELF! Never change yourself for others just to get that position, if they don't appreciate what you have to offer then someone else will appreciate it. Be unique and confident in who you are! <3
